Inpatient care for admitted patients

Inpatient is a term that refers to patients that are admitted to the hospital to stay overnight, whether briefly or for a number of days. Physicians keep these patients in the hospital to monitor them more closely. Inpatient care involves medical care and treatment administered to patients who require hospital treatment or other health care facility treatment.

What does inpatient care entail?

Dr Dreyer provides inpatient care alongside other doctors, specialists, and nurses within a hospital. You may be admitted to a particular service such as general surgery, neurology, cardiology, orthopaedics, or oncology. Depending on the department you are admitted to, the physician may be able to partake in your inpatient care. During your stay in the hospital, you will be monitored closely while being treated for your condition.

The doctor will decide whether or not you longer require inpatient care. If you no longer need inpatient care, you will be discharged from the facility. You’ll be given discharge notes which often include instructions to follow up with various doctors, take prescribed medications, and even receive outpatient services, if necessary.
